Letter: Sullivan's dismaying attack

Sen. Dan Sullivan’s recent attack on the Donald Trump verdict demonstrated a shocking disrespect for the American judicial system. Trump had a fair trial with the full benefit of counsel — in fact, far better counsel than the average person could afford. After hearing the evidence, a jury of his peers, who his attorneys helped select, unanimously found him guilty of 34 felonies.

Sen. Sullivan apparently feels Trump should be given special lenient treatment so that he can act with impunity, but that is not how the rule of law works in the United States. It would be wise for Sullivan to heed the words of Liz Cheney: “There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.”
