I never thought I’d ever thank Dave Bronson for anything, but I do thank him for vetoing the Assembly’s ordinance on short-term rentals. It’s not as if the Municipality isn’t already getting dollars from such rentals. The 12% bed tax for rentals under 30 days, which rental owners are responsible for paying, must add something to the Muni coffers, although I have not heard how much that might add up to in a year.
If there are 2,000 or so short-term rentals around town, I’d like to know how much money that generates for the Muni.
