In his recent letter to ADN, former Anchorage Mayor Rick Mystrom was spot-on in his support of Bill Popp for Anchorage mayor. Popp is a long-time Alaskan who for decades has demonstrated his dedication and enthusiasm in improving life in our state.
After holding several important positions on the Kenai Peninsula, including as special assistant to the Kenai Peninsula Borough mayor, member of the Kenai Borough Assembly and president of that body, Bill was named president and CEO of the Anchorage Economic Development Corp. in 2007, a post he held for 16 years.
Popp has been described as an optimistic, “glass-half-full” type of person.
That’s exactly what Anchorage needs at this point in its history. Rather than satisfaction with the status quo, he has always looked to the horizon at what might be possible. He is pragmatic, knows how to get things done, is very well-liked and has the ability to work with folks of all political
persuasions.
I’ve lived in Alaska for 78 years and seen a lot of city mayors come and go. I don’t think we could do any better this April than elect Bill Popp as mayor of Anchorage.
