Letters to the Editor

Letter: Plowing argument omission

Regarding Bob Bell’s recent letter to the editor in defense of Mayor Dave Bronson’s handling of snow removal. One most important fact that was left out is that the street maintenance department is approximately 45% to 50% staffed below previous mayors’ staffing levels. All anyone has to do is go back and read previous ADN stories in which this very department head has clearly stated that staffing levels are below previous years and difficult to fill — at least that was the excuse for why the roads weren’t getting plowed three months ago.

Leaving out that one important fact and another, that it’s the mayor’s budget that dictates the hiring, undercuts Bell’s assertions.
