Letter: Dunleavy and education

Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s newly proposed budget — with no increase in the Basic Student Allocation — continues his war on education, a war that is both politically purposeful and knowingly malign. A host of polls show why he and other Republicans oppose adequate funding for public education: The more education a person has, the more liberal that person tends to be.

No wonder, then, that conservatives like Dunleavy are miserly when it comes to supporting K-12 education and our University of Alaska.

He and his Republican colleagues prefer under-informed voters — those who can be seduced and bought by Permanent Fund giveaways.
