Seems to me Peak Gold (Kinross) should take a page from 19th-century America and build a railroad to truck ore from the Manh Choh mine to Fairbanks. Alaska needs the infrastructure and it dodges the problems of noise, dust, danger and road/bridge damage that trucking the ore will cause, not to mention the extreme aggravation caused by getting stuck behind one of the ore trucks.
Perhaps the state could devote the predicted savings of not having to do extra road/bridge maintenance to building the railroad. Just sayin.’
