Now there’s another war. If the Trump administration had considered Palestine in the no-conditions “Deal of the Century Abrahma Accords,” the explosion of West Bank “settlement” expansion and increased violence and hubris would not have occurred. Trump opened the doors wide for this amplification of Israeli violence against Palestinians and for the inevitable Hamas retaliation attack, which has led to yet another revengeful Israeli invasion of Gaza.
For mainstream media to call it an “unprovoked” conflict borders on lunacy; too bad too many people will believe it. As an illustration, I often refer to a quote by the 1960s Israeli Gen. Moshe Dayan: “Israel must invent dangers, and to do this it must adapt the strategy of provocation and revenge.” Israel has learned this lesson well.
To be fair, Hamas provokes also. Both extremist governments maintain their excuse for retaining power by threatening each other and scuttling peace.
And now, back to the Trump GOP’s apparent view on not supporting NATO and Ukraine. As quoted in the ADN on Oct. 8, " ‘This is unfortunately the Russian fashion of escalation,’ said Iulia Joja, the director of the Black Sea program for the Washington- based Middle East Institute think tank. ‘They try and probe our limits, our so-called red lines, and if they perceive our response as weak, they probe further.’ " If the West folds on Ukraine and/ or NATO, where will Putin’s probe go next? Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has greenlighted Israel in the new Gaza war, with, as usual, no conditions.
