If Anchorage residents want to know why there is an expanding crisis with homeless people living on the streets, then look no further than the majority of the Anchorage Assembly.
Recently, the Anchorage Assembly voted that they would not pay for Mayor Dave Bronson’s proposed navigation center and homeless shelter. The clients would be hard to place people with addiction and mental illness, people who would not fit into normal housing or hotels.
Anchorage does need a navigation center for desperate people who have reached the end of the road and need help. For the safety of the homeless and surrounding neighborhoods, there should be a reconsideration of the mayor’s proposed navigation center.
