I think gun control advocates are unnecessarily critical of the NRA for holding its national convention so soon after a mass shooting of children. A little understanding of the constraints the NRA operates under scheduling their convention is in order. The NRA could schedule the national convention every week of the year and there will be a mass shooting preceding it.
Next year’s NRA convention will most likely be closely preceded by a mass shooting, probably with an AR-15 style weapon. So when this next shooting occurs and the gun control advocates suggest it’s not appropriate for a national NRA convention so soon after, please have some sympathy for the NRA’s convention scheduling difficulty.
