Letter: Waxwings have pals

The ADN article Feb. 21 on tipsy Bohemian waxwings prompted me to share what I just learned. Recently, after observing mountain ash berries scattered on the snow, I looked up expecting to see waxwings. Instead, in disbelief, I snapped a (poor) photo and ran inside to email it to Audubon with a note that I couldn’t believe what I think I saw.

It wasn’t long before a reply confirmed my suspicions. Yes, robins sometimes hang out with waxwings in winter eating the berries. What a nice surprise! Thanks to the equally amazed lady at Audubon, who kindly consulted with one of their experts for confirmation.
