The Jan. 24 ADN included two of the best reasons for continuing ranked choice voting that I’ve heard so far. First, Kelly Tshibaka, a political newbie with support from the Alaska Republican Party and Donald Trump, was soundly defeated by Lisa Murkowski.
Second, Sarah Palin, a two-time loser who had already bailed out on her Republican governorship to attempt a national vice-presidential run, ended up a three-time loser as a U.S. House candidate. The Alaska voters have spoken very clearly, regardless of how the votes are counted. Either way, both Tshibaka and Palin have earned their places in the loser’s bracket. Give it up.
