This legal action directed at disqualifying Rep. David Eastman from holding office is nonsense.
There are thousands of patriotic veterans and retired police who are Oath Keepers, who have taken an oath to defend the U.S. against all enemies, and who support patriotic American causes. Since 2012, they have indeed participated in a number of cases of assistance to citizens and groups fighting with the government. Does this mean they are want to overthrow the government? No. It means that they oppose government actions at times and are willing to support opposition to such government actions. Isn’t that what all political activists, no matter what side they are on or what their cause is, do?
Just because 11 of them participated in attacking the Capitol building does not make the Oath Keepers a terrorist organization trying to overthrow the U.S. government. In addition to a few Oath Keepers, there were hundreds of others who participated in the Capitol attack, many of whom belonged to an organization such as a police department, an auto manufacturing company, Disney World, Southern Pacific Railroad, and so forth. Are all of these other organizations also terrorists?
It is so obvious what is going on here. A few people who disagree with David Eastman politically have decided to try this to get rid of him. So if you don’t agree with a duly elected politician, instead of debating, discussing, compromising, or voting, just accuse him of sedition or some other crime to get him thrown out of office.
I wonder what all the Wasilla-area folks who elected David Eastman would say to these anti-Eastman plaintiffs.
