Letter: Pain relief

A few days ago, my friend had her gallbladder removed, and also underwent a biopsy of her liver. She was given sufficient pain medicine at the hospital.

I checked in some hours later. She was writhing, pale and sweaty. I asked her where her pain pills were. She said she didn’t have any.

What? Didn’t the doctor sign an authorization, or preauthorization form? Yes, he had.

Well, who was holding up the wagon? Apparently Medicaid (doctors?) deemed it unnecessary for a person coming out of surgery to have pain relief.

Just because some doctors were passing out oxycodone like Skittles doesn’t mean they now have to overcorrect and be sadistic overlords.
