I read the recent article about Republicans seeing a possible coming civil war here with considerable dismay (July 24). I am a retired Air Force veteran who served for two years in Vietnam during the war there. My father served in the Army in World War II and in Korea during the Korean War. Both Vietnam and Korea were essentially civil wars. Do we really want that kind of death, chaos, and destruction here? I think not.
