Letter: Alaska Baseball League rosters

Baseball fans in Alaska benefit from great summer baseball with players from universities and colleges around the Lower 48. It’s too bad fans who attend are unable to find out who is on a team roster. It would be neat to know if any players are from my hometown, Moneta, Iowa, or attend Creighton University, which I attended.

Of course the PA announcer gives the player’s name and school affiliation, but this does not replace a team roster. The Glacier Pilots provide a roster of their players, but no idea who is on the team they are playing against. The Bucs occasionally provide a roster and, again, no visiting team roster. I’m unable to comment on the Chinooks’ record for providing rosters for the home and visiting teams due to the cost of gas to drive to Chugiak.

It does not seem like rocket science to print a spreadsheet and run off a couple hundred copies — Office Depot would be happy to help.

I realize the average 10-year-old just uses their thumbs to bring up rosters on their phones. However, my generation does not have that skill — or even a phone with that capability.
