Letters to the Editor

Letter: What does ‘extreme-left’ mean?

When readers like William Lewis complain in letters to the editor (ADN, May 19) about the Assembly being “extreme-left,” I wish they would provide some idea of what they consider such.

Is Mr. Lewis against paying for school resource officers? Is the mobile crisis team some left-wing conspiracy to aid people with mental health crises? What about building inspectors? Should we just trust builders won’t cut corners?

It seems as if Mr. Lewis thinks we’d be better off with a dictatorship than a system of checks and balances. Dictatorships may get the “trains to run on time,” but “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Still true, brother. Still true.
