Letter: Party isn’t important

Alaska Democratic Party executive director Lindsay Kavanaugh said she wants to know if Al Gross is going to run as an independent or align with a party for U.S. House.

As a registered nonpartisan, I’m not interested in a candidate’s party and never have been. I’m interested in voting for the right person. I supported Alaska’s new open primary and ranked-choice general election voting system because it allows me to do just that in every race.

When it comes to the general election, I will be interested to see how the four candidates in each race will work to win my vote, whether as my first, second, third or fourth choice.
