Letter: Dictatorship vs. democracy

Now is the time to choose: Are we for democracy and freedom, or for the totalitarian ideal that might makes right? Russian President Vladimir Putin has invaded Ukraine under a pretext that would make an ancient Roman emperor blush. Putin has arrested the very citizens he is supposed to serve who are currently protesting the war. Putin’s actions have caused other nations to implement sanctions that will harm the Russian people.

All of this is known, and yet there are fellow Americans of mine who still make excuses for this imperialist action by Putin. I stand on the side of Ukraine and freedom; Putin apologists need to decide if they share his values or those of America and Ukraine.
