Letters to the Editor

Letter: Don’t bother with Yukon TV

I wouldn’t say GCI did a competent job on its new internet-only system — they timed the changeover just when it was hard to get extra employees — but if cable TV just had to go, it’s entirely possible to accept their new system without using the obviously defective Yukon TV app they want to sell.

Our two-person household pays $99 per month for 600 gigs of data; watching about an hour a day of Netflix — $15 a month — burns up less than 150 gigs. We have plenty for general computing uses.

Admittedly, we can’t watch broadcast live TV this way, and we forgo sports entirely. But if you’re going to have to stream content, there are ways to choose the channels and content you want and avoid paying for stuff you don’t.
