Letter: A Puerto Rican’s new home in Alaska

In Puerto Rico, the economy and society are getting worse, the poverty levels are increasing and the rich are obtaining our lands. Puerto Ricans who get tired of living in need move to the United States.

I chose to move to Alaska because it offered me opportunities and stability that I have been taking advantage of. Alaska is a cold state, but it is beautiful and full of culture. I miss Puerto Rico and my family, but my goals, my health and my family come first.
