Letter: Save the Kenai

I am a setnetter and sport fisherman for more than 30 years who grew up in Ninilchik. In my opinion, Alaskans should bring back the fish traps to Cook Inlet. King salmon can easily be released alive from a fish trap. The state could then buy back the majority of the setnet sites and permits, and in the meantime, we should make the Kenai River limited entry for guides and nonresident sport fishermen. This plan would help preserve the world’s greatest king salmon run. A penny for your thoughts?
