Letter: Murkowski’s vote

Sen. Lisa Murkowski can hold her head high. She chose to take the evidence seriously and to honor her oath to uphold the Constitution. She’s infuriated me many times by mouthing moderate sentiments and then voting the party line. This time, when it counted most, she had the courage to follow her conscience. Her seat is up for reelection in two years.

She’ll probably lose support for doing the right thing, though I doubt she’ll lose the election. Why? Because Alaska really wants her to be an independent. Not a Republican automaton, like the other one.
