Letters to the Editor

Letter: Poop patrol

I see there is a lot of interest in tightening leash laws in Anchorage — tightening leash, I get it — but no one has addressed the dereliction of duty of the Municipal Canine Poop Patrol, or MCPP.

I walk my dog every day and see that other considerate dog owners have thoughtfully bagged their dogs’ poop and then left it by the road or trail side for easy pickup. I have seen the same bags left for days on end. What gives here? What is the MCPP doing? Are we to be expected to pick up, bag and discard our dog’s poop by ourselves!?

Admittedly a small thing, but if the Municipality can’t get this small thing right, how can they hope to enforce stronger leash laws?
