When I read the ADN article Feb. 3, “Deadlock continues, endangering COVID-19 response,” I was totally disgusted at the words attributed to Rep. Ivy Spohnholz: “It will take pressure from people, from people outside the Legislature, the community. If folks think that people need to set aside party politics to do what’s right for Alaska, they should say so.” I just shook my head and closed my eyes.
What else does she think the people expect from those they elected to represent them? The whole article was a prime example of how “politics” is just a schoolyard game for our elected officials. People are sick of it; not just on the state level but on the national level as well. It astounds me that those elected to represent us cannot even make a decision regarding leadership without thinking about who’s going to do what to whom. It’s pathetic!
We elect people to go to Juneau and expect them to represent the people of Alaska, and actually work toward solving statewide issues in 90 days. Well, Rep. Spohnholz and all the rest of the State House, we’re “saying so.” Do the job you’re there to do and stop the partisan politics now. You’re wasting our time.
