Letter: Dogs aren’t the real problem

The Anchorage Assembly will consider changes in the leash laws because a few unleashed dogs have caused problems in our parks and on our trails. The Assembly would do well to take a broader look at problems in our extensive, beautiful and well-cared-for parks and trails (thank you, Parks and Recreation Department!).

The major danger to the public is not dogs but fast-moving bicycles. Before we leash the dogs because of a few unruly ones, we need to “leash” the bicycles because of the many many speeding ones. I walk my dog twice daily. I am threatened by bicycles twice daily. I meet scary dogs maybe once per year. Speed limits before dog limits, please.
