Letters to the Editor

Letter: Small and sad

I don’t think that the government — i.e., the Department of Motor Vehicles —  should be in the business of censoring free speech, i.e., license plates. A plate that says “Fuhrer” may be offensive, but there is nothing in the First Amendment that prohibits offensive speech.

The important thing is what the license plate tells you about the person driving the car. Not only is such a person not very nice, but they are probably overcompensating for their insufficiencies. Such people are small and sad.
