Letter: Police killed suspect?

With respect to today’s story headlined “Suspect dead in officer-involved shooting in East Anchorage, police say” – I realize that this euphemism is widely used. And I’m not questioning that the killing may have been justified. The circumstances have not yet been released.

But wouldn’t it be more accurate — and a breath of fresh air — to say right out, “Police kill suspect in East Anchorage”?

I mean, an officer was “involved” in the shooting? Did they pull the trigger, or what?
