It’s ironic to see “Stop the Steal” signs when the Trump machine is about to do just that by pressuring states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin to appoint electors on Dec. 14 to override the popular vote, award Donald Trump electoral votes and steal the presidency. That scenario seems unlikely and outrageous, but that is exactly their playbook.
This isn’t hard to imagine in a country where a dictator lost an election and refused to concede, lies about the vote count, files lawsuits while using the power of government to prevent a transition of power from starting. This is happening in the United States of America by a president who is spreading the actual fake news. The scary part is that about half of the country is buying it.
