Letter: Crashing planes

Two hundred and sixty days have passed since the first COVID-19 deaths in the US. More than 244,000 Americans have died. On average, that’s more than 900 deaths per day — the equivalent of five Boeing 737s crashing and killing everyone onboard.

If five planes were crashing every day, what are the odds you’d be getting on a plane? How is COVID-19 different? It’s not. All we can do is wear a mask and stay home until a solution is found — otherwise, we’re just shooting down planes.
