Letter: Why?

If the current trend continues, 83 Alaskans will have died of reported COVID-19 by the end of 2020. This is about one-fortieth of the number of Alaskans who will die this year (based on 2017 state statistics) of cancer, heart disease, accidents, chronic lower respiratory disease, stroke, suicide, chronic liver disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease combined. We seem to favor lockdowns and spending vast amounts of money on our 10th most common disease. Why?
