I have to wonder who our Legislature thinks they are representing. With tens of thousands of paycheck-to-paycheck Alaskans out of work, they move more than a billion dollars out of the earnings reserve and into the corpus of the Permanent Fund so future earnings will be higher.
So future money for them to spend is more important than helping out Alaskans who are in desperate shape now? They also passed a budget larger than last year, making sure all the well-paid folks working for the government get full pay and benefits. Turning their backs on hurting Alaskans is downright shameful. They need to change their priorities or we need to change legislators.
