The Legislature is sending a strong and unified message to Gov. Mike Dunleavy: Sign House Bill 96. This bill passed both the state House and Senate unanimously.
The impact of HB 96 is to cap monthly rates in our Pioneer Homes. The Dunleavy administration had raised the rates, effective Sept. 1, 2019. Public testimony against the rate hike had been overwhelmingly loud. In the legislative hearings and during the regulation comment period, folks from all over Alaska expressed outrage over the rate hikes.
House Bill 96 demonstrates the spirit of unity with which the Legislature acted. Let’s hope the governor gets the message.
