I feel for the Alaska State Troopers and other search and rescue personnel who have to repeatedly risk their own lives to save people who are looking for the “Into the Wild” experience. Out of curiosity, I decided to find the bus on Google Earth. Imagine my surprise when I found that Google has it labeled “Magic Bus.” That seems particularly unhelpful.
Since it doesn’t look like the state is going to remove it, perhaps the locals could lobby Google to at least change the name. I personally vote for “Darwin’s Bus Stop.”
