Letter: Oxymorons

Like much of conservative messaging, even the title of Americans for Prosperity, or AFP, is an oxymoron. This dark-money group funded by the Koch family is once again airing advertisements in Alaska, this time claiming our state government is bloated and wasteful.

As for wasteful, I will agree that it is an incredible waste that we no longer have a functioning ferry system, a viable university and that virtually every state agency has been crippled for decades to come. But this is not because of bloated state government, but precisely because Gov. Mike Dunleavy and those who support him implemented the AFP agenda. It may be ironic, but it is no surprise that the state is not enjoying prosperity. At the next election, Alaskans should use their votes to rid the slate of candidates indebted to dark money groups like AFP.
