Letter: Studded tires

The municipal plan to change the time frame for use of studded tires is flawed. Vehicle shops have been booked solid for weeks with tire change-outs, and some shops have technicians on a six-day week. Many Anchorage Bowl residents live at higher elevations and snow arrives early.

Only the state of Alaska should be allowed to regulate tire use. A motorist needing extra time for studded tire use may apply with the state Department of Motor Vehicles for a special traction permit under code: 28.35.155, form No. 866, at $30 per year.
