Letter: Drill at all costs

On the eve of the Sept. 20-27 Global Climate Strike, Alaska’s political leaders, bureaucrats, movers and shakers were standing firm against the climate science and international realization. Acting director James Beckham of the state Division of Oil and Gas waxed giddy with the new oil prospects for Alaska in his Sept. 17 ADN commentary.

Last month, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler spoke at a Resource Development Council/Alaska Miners luncheon with Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan in rapt attention, along with the usual development-at-any-cost crowd gleefully in support of the regulatory rollbacks and expedited environmental impact statements.

Not one word was spoken about climate change.

“Drill, baby, drill!” Never mind that the planet and Alaska are on fire.
