Letters to the Editor

Letter: The wisdom of age

I recently began a digital subscription to the ADN and just read the Sept. 2 column by Michael Carey in the Opinions section. I’ve followed him off and on for decades, and was glad to see him still around. I grew up in Alaska, and for me, he always had a unique Alaskan perspective I enjoyed reading.

Reading his piece about the Henry David Thoreau of his youth and the Thoreau of his mature years was satisfying and full of the type of wisdom we can never understand in our youth, no matter how clever we were.

I was wondering if you can let him know he has one appreciative fan. And perhaps let you, the editors, know this also.
