Letter: Civil emergency

At the July 25 town hall meeting regarding the homeless emergency, a number of people advocated for camps and shelter for “responsible” unhoused persons.

To respond: Our obligation to our community does not end with the “responsible” among us. We must show up for the so-called irresponsible people on our streets because they are the most vulnerable, and our position in life is absolutely caught up with how we serve the most vulnerable in our neighborhoods.
