Letter: Un-Christian treatment

Last week, a legal team visited an immigrant holding facility near El Paso, Texas. The attorneys reported on hearing young migrants, torn away from their mothers, describe conditions of neglect and mistreatment.

As I read this heart-wrenching report, a long-ago vacation bible school song came to mind. “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.”

Five immigrant children have died after being detained by the border patrol since last year. Many faithful Christians continue to placidly support an administration that treats children (and fellow human beings) with callous disregard. What would Jesus do?
