If ever there was a band to inspire a revolution, the Backstreet Boys are not it.
Yet at least one Syrian rebel has embraced the boy band, and in particular its seminal 1999 mega-hit, "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely."
Perhaps lyrics like these struck a chord:

I have no place to go
Surrender my heart, body, and soul
How can it be
You're asking me
To feel the things you never show?
