How many times has the Super Bowl been in New Orleans?
The Super Bowl is returning to the Superdome for the first time since February 2013, when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31, in a game that was interrupted by a power outage that lasted longer than 30 minutes.
The first five Super Bowls played at the Superdome were decided by at least two touchdowns, including the biggest blowout of them all, the 49ers’ 55-10 demolition of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV (1990). But it also was the site of one of the game’s bigger upsets when the New England Patriots defeated the St. Louis Rams, 20-17, as 14-point underdogs in Super Bowl XXXVI (2002).
This will be the eighth time the stadium has hosted the Super Bowl, which is more than any other venue.

What channel is the Super Bowl on? Is it streaming?
Fox will air the Super Bowl on U.S. television. The Spanish-language broadcast will be on Fox Deportes and Telemundo. The game will be streamed for free on Tubi, though viewers will need to create a Tubi account.

How did the Eagles and Chiefs reach the Super Bowl?
The Eagles went 14-3 in the regular season, won the NFC East and earned the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs. They defeated the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Commanders to reach the Super Bowl.
This is the second Super Bowl berth in the past three seasons for Philadelphia, which this offseason added running back Saquon Barkley, who has been electric - including in the NFC championship game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a knee injury in the divisional round but played well against Washington, throwing for 246 yards and a touchdown. (He also ran for three scores.) Coach Nick Sirianni’s Eagles started the season 2-2, then won 10 straight.
“That’s why I came here,” Barkley said after Philadelphia’s win over Washington on Sunday. “That’s one of the first conversations I had with Howie [Roseman, the team’s general manager]. That’s a conversation I had with my family. … I came to Philly to be part of games like this. Nothing better than a game where you can advance to the Super Bowl.”
Defensively, linebacker Zack Baun - a first-team AP All-Pro selection - anchors a unit that led the NFL in yards allowed per game (289.3) and yards allowed per play (4.8) and gave up only 35 plays of 20-plus yards, fewest in the league. Like Barkley, Baun was signed as a free agent in the offseason after four unremarkable years with the New Orleans Saints. Now he has a good chance of being named NFC defensive player of the year, and he’s sure to be a prized free agent when his one-year contract expires after the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs went 15-2 in the regular season, won the AFC West and were the top seed in the AFC playoffs. After a first-round bye, they earned the Super Bowl berth with wins over the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills. Now they will try to become the first team to earn three straight Super Bowl rings.
With the win over Josh Allen’s Bills on Sunday, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes advanced to his fifth Super Bowl appearance. Only two QBs - Joe Burrow and Tom Brady - have beaten the 29-year-old in the postseason.
“Let’s go make history,” Mahomes said.
Despite their gaudy regular season record, there was the sense that the Chiefs underperformed at times. They’ve won only three games by double figures all season and the offense averaged just 5.1 yards per play, which tied for 22nd in the league. Mahomes posted the second-lowest QBR of his career as a starting quarterback (67.6) and took 36 sacks, by far the most of his career. But Kansas City’s defense negated the need for offensive fireworks, as the Chiefs allowed only 19.4 points per game (No. 4 in the league) and registered 10 sacks in two postseason games.

Have the Eagles and the Chiefs played in the Super Bowl before?
The Eagles and the Chiefs met just two years ago in Super Bowl LVII, a 38-35 Kansas City win that was secured by a Harrison Butker field goal with eight seconds left.
That game featured several memorable storylines: Mahomes and Hurts were the first Black quarterbacks to start against each other in the Super Bowl. Kelce (Travis) met Kelce (Jason). Also, Rihanna had the halftime show. The game elevated the stature of Coach Andy Reid, whom Mahomes praised afterward.
“He’s one of the greatest coaches of all time,” Mahomes said at the time. “I think everybody knew that. But these last two Super Bowls kind of cemented that. … We’re not done.”
Nope. They weren’t. Kansas City returned to the Super Bowl one year later, this time meeting San Francisco - and beating the 49ers in overtime. They became the first repeat winners since the New England Patriots did it in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX.
The Chiefs are playing in the game for the fifth time in the past six seasons. Overall, it’s the seventh Super Bowl appearance for Kansas City. (Only the Patriots, Steelers, Cowboys, 49ers and Broncos have reached more Super Bowls.)
The Eagles are making their fifth Super Bowl appearance and are looking for their second Super Bowl victory. They were previously the victors of an entertaining Super Bowl LII, which saw Nick Foles, backup quarterback, become Nick Foles, Super Bowl MVP, and the “Philly Special” became the stuff of Philadelphia legend.

Super Bowl tickets only are available on the secondary market. On Monday, the cheapest pair of upper-deck tickets was going for $6,442 apiece at StubHub (fees included).
