The East Thunderbirds circled Friday on their calendar way back in August, and when the day finally arrived, the T-birds were ready.

East beat three-time defending champion Dimond 19-6 to win the Cook Inlet Conference flag football championship game, capping a 16-1 season.

Sandin Kidder threw three touchdown passes, two to Mookie Joubert and one to Sierra Rosenzweig, to lead the T-birds.
