Magazine publisher Marti Buscaglia has joined the Daily News as advertising director and vice president. The announcement was made Monday by Publisher Pat Doyle. She will start work April 16.
Buscaglia is currently publisher of the monthly Duluth-Superior Magazine in Minnesota. Before that, she had a lengthy career in newspaper sales and marketing. She was publisher of the Duluth News Tribune newspaper, under the ownership of Forum Communications and, earlier, the Knight Ridder Co.
She was vice president and director of market development for the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press, vice president of marketing and communications for the Baltimore Sun, owned by the Tribune Co., and worked in marketing for the Times Mirror Co. and the Gannett Co. She began her career working at an advertising agency and later ran her own agency.
Doyle said Buscaglia's print experience and understanding of digital publishing, as well as a fondness for snow, make her a perfect fit for the Daily News.
