Victoria's Secret is coming to Alaska

Alaska's retail reputation just got another boost.

Lingerie chain Victoria's Secret will open this fall at the Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall. It will be the company's first location in Alaska.

Kari Skinner, director of marketing and business development at the mall, said Victoria's Secret will take up about 11,000 square feet.

The mall will reconfigure the space on the third level where Abercrombie & Fitch recently closed at the end of April and where two other stores used to be. PacSun and Lids have relocated within the shopping center.

"We have heard that our customers want Victoria's Secret," Skinner said. "It's about finding the right space for them and making things fit. It's a long negotiation process. ... It's very exciting."

She couldn't specify exactly when this fall the new store will open, and added that there will be some construction but it "won't impact shoppers in any way."

KTVA broke the news Friday about the lingerie retailer. Victoria's Secret isn't the only new chain coming to Anchorage during a shaky time for the state's economy. Dave & Buster's, the entertainment restaurant chain, has plans to open a location at the Dimond Center.
