Apparel retailer Aeropostale Inc. is closing more than 100 stores in the U.S., including in Alaska.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Wednesday and will close 113 stores nationally, along with all 41 of its stores in Canada. Aeropostale has 739 U.S. stores, according to the New York Times.
Its store locations in Alaska -- two in Anchorage and one in Fairbanks -- will close.
Aeropostale said in a statement that it filed for bankruptcy in order to "achieve long-term financial stability" and resolve ongoing disputes with its second-largest supplier.
"We are confident this process will allow us to maintain our commitments to customers, employees and other business partners as we work to achieve our financial goals," CEO Julian Geiger said in a statement.
Aeropostale has struggled recently with how best to turn its business model around amid changing retail habits, The Washington Post reported.
In January, the retailer introduced a cost reduction program in hopes of making as much as $40 million in savings. The company was also recently delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
