6 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Best of Alaska Showcase

Noon-5 p.m. Saturday; Dena’ina Center, 600 W. Seventh Ave.

All of the best in the state gathered under one roof. From restaurants to retail and much more, there’s fun for the whole family at this free event. Check the schedule for a full rundown of entertainment and events.

Potted Potter

7:30 p.m. Thursday/Friday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday; Discovery Theatre, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

Harry Potter fans, prepare yourself for this show that features all the best characters, hilarious props and even a real-life game of Quidditch. Anchorage audiences loved the show when it was performed locally in 2016 and 2019. Tickets start at $44.

Fine Art Fair

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; The Nave, 3502 Spenard Road

Curated and coordinated by Emily Longbrake and Christine Sundly, this year’s exhibition features open studios of some of the state’s best working artists. Admission is free for all ages.

11 a.m. Saturday; Bear Tooth Theatrepub, 1230 W. 27th Ave.

Historian David Reamer gives the final presentation in his series of recent talks, “An Anecdotal History of a Neighborhood from Bootleggers to Miracle Mile and Beyond.” The event is free and tickets are available at the Bear Tooth box office.

Anchorage Civic Orchestra Fall Concert

7:30 p.m. Saturday; Sydney Laurence Theatre, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

The first concert of the year features Schubert’s Overture in D, Dvorak’s “New World Symphony” and Brahms’ Double Concerto with Jocelyn Schendel on cello and Emily Madsen on violin. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors and $15 for youths 18 and under.

360 All-Stars

7 p.m. Saturday; Atwood Concert Hall, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

These superstar performances celebrate street culture, with skills in freestyle basketball, BMX biking, breakdancing and acrobatics. Tickets start at $29.25.
