5 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Great Alaska Duck Race

10 a.m. Saturday; King’s Landing at Ship Creek

The day starts with the Scotty Gomez Foundation 5K along Ship Creek. Tickets can be purchased online or in person until the ducks drop at 10:30 a.m. Ducks race from the Ship Creek Overlook Park Bridge to the Bait Shack just below the Bridge Restaurant on lower Ship Creek. This is a fundraising event for education, youth sports, and local community organizations. Tickets are $10 or 6 for $50.

Diaper Dash

10 a.m. Saturday; Tudor Elementary School, 1666 Cache Dr.

Alaska Adoption Services’s 3rd annual Diaper Dash includes a 5K and a free kids mile. The race raises funds and awareness for the Community Diaper Pantry, a program of Alaska Adoption Services that provides free diapers and wipes to families in need Registration for the 5K is $40 and the kids mile is free.

Clay Fest

11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday; Turnagain Ceramics, 1343 G St.

The 2nd annual event features plenty of pottery, live music, food and fun. Attendees can participate in pottery classes, watch live demos, contribute to a community art project and check out the Turnagain Ceramics studio.

SOULCase with Chris Hawk

6:30 p.m. Saturday; UAA Fine Arts Building, 3700 Alumni Dr.

This event features Chris Hawk and his soulful music but it’s also about raising money for Saving Our Unique Lives (SOUL). The organization is a non-profit that supports at risk young adults (ages 18-28) in Alaska through mentorship, connections to therapy services and community resources. Tickets are $40.

Meteor Shower

7 p.m. Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday; Cyrano’s Theatre Building, 3800 Debarr Rd.

Cyrano’s Theatre Company presents this comedy penned by Steve Martin. The story is set at a crazy, dinner party where couples meet to watch a rare meteor shower and is filled with plenty of twists and turns. Tickets are $30 or $27 for military, seniors and students.

First Friday

Anchorage Museum: Free create includes making a snowman ornament for the 2024 U.S. Capitol tree. Bosco’s is at the Museum as part of the ongoing Line of Site comic exhibition. Processing and creating with salmon skin, taught by Audrey Armstrong and salmon culture is the art of the floor topic. Free admission starting at 6 p.m. 625 C St., 6-9 p.m.
