4 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Farmers Markets

Farms and gardens have been producing all month and this is a great weekend to hit farmers markets in town, which should be flush with produce and other goods. The Anchorage Farmers’ Market runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 1420 Cordova St. The South Anchorage Farmers Market also runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 11111 O’Malley Centre Drive. The Anchorage Market is back downtown at 225 E St. and runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Anchorage Midtown Farmers Market runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at 900 E Benson Blvd. The Muldoon Farmers Market runs from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Chanshtnu Muldoon Park. Anchorage re:MADE runs 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at 13500 Old Seward Hwy. The O’Malley Market runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at 11111 O’Malley Centre Dr.

Alaska State Fair

11 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday-Sunday; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday; Alaska State Fairgrounds, 2075 Glenn Highway in Palmer

The final weekend of the fair has arrived and there is still time to catch a concert, carnival ride or corn dog. Sunday is Military Appreciation Day and Monday is First Responders Day with discounted admission available for those groups on each day. The fair wraps up at 8 p.m. on Monday, which is Labor Day.

Anchorage Community Theatre presents this Neil Simon classic as four distinct comedic stories are told at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors, military and students and $15 for kids 12 and under.

Gravel Growler

12:30 p.m. Saturday; Hilltop Ski Area, 7015 Abbott Road

The Fireweed is rolling out its new bike race, a collaborative fundraiser with Speedway Cycles and Hilltop Ski Area. This 20-mile gravel course starts at Hilltop Ski Area, and racers will take a winding Tank Trail loop to the Arctic Valley golf course gate and return to Hilltop for awards and fun.
