5 things to do in Southcentral Alaska this weekend

Pyrah’s Pioneer Peak Farm Summer Festival

Noon-6 p.m. Friday/Saturday; Pyrah’s Pioneer Peak Farm, 4350 Bodenburg Loop in Palmer

Formerly known as the Strawberry Festival, this event has ag-themed rides and games, mini golf, a jump pad, a scavenger hunt, cow train and hayrides, pedal tractors, the maze, contests and prizes. Tickets are $10.

Rock’n the Ranch at the RustyRavin

5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday; RustyRavin Plant Ranch, 35680 Baranof St. in Kenai

Some of Alaska’s best bands converge on the RustyRavin Ranch with Blackwater Railroad, Roland Roberts, the Ridgeway Rounders and the Denali Cooks among the groups scheduled to perform. Tickets are $45 for two days, $35 for one day. Two-day tickets for kids 16 and under are $25.

Wigmas

10 p.m. Friday; Koot’s, 2435 Spenard Road

Put on your favorite wig and join the fun at Koot’s throughout the venue. The Hoons and Bad Friday provide music with DJs in the Ice Bar and Swing Bar.

Arctic Thunder Open House

9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday; Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson

Skinny Raven Half Marathon & 10K

9 a.m. Sunday; Delaney Park Strip, West Ninth Avenue

One of the favorite midsummer running events includes a commemorative shirt, custom finisher medal and glass, and post-event beverage or certificate equivalent. Registration cost for the half marathon is $112 and the 10K is $92.
