3 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

The rain is back in Anchorage, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend the weekend under covers. The Alaska State Fair returns Thursday after a two-day hiatus and runs through Monday. UAA welcomes back students with a campus kickoff Saturday. If staying dry is requisite, comedian/musician Hannibal Buress will deliver a combo platter of entertainment for audiences on Saturday.

Alaska State Fair

11 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday-Monday, Alaska State Fairgrounds, Palmer

After a two-day pause, the fair fires back up Thursday and runs through Monday. Get your fill of rides, concessions, games, arts, crafts, exhibits, markets, demonstrations and more.

Main stage entertainment options include Celtic punks Flogging Molly on Friday, comedian Nate Bargatze on Saturday, a cappella group Home Free on Sunday and SoundCloud sensation Yung Gravy on Monday.

Hannibal Buress / Eshu Tune

6 p.m. Saturday, Williwaw Social, 609 F St.

Hannibal Buress will give audiences a combo-platter with his signature comedy along with performances as his hip-hop alias Eshu Tune. Buress has been performing stand-up for more than two decades and had an eight-year run on “The Eric Andre Show,” a popular sketch comedy program.

In recent years, Buress has increasingly focused creative efforts on music with the rap project Eshu Tune. Doors open at 6 p.m. and general admission tickets are $35.
